There is simply nothing more powerful and quite frankly nothing more eye-opening than when our Canopy families tell the story of their journey to America. The path that led our families to Claremont was long and hard, it was full of obstacles and desperate times. Our families bravely use their voices to speak up and out about the truths of what it is like to be a refugee. Our beloved Wawieh family partnered with BuzzFeed Video to share the reality of being a Syrian refugee in America.
This fall, Canopy partnered with the folks at SoulPancake in their documentary on the truths and myths of being an immigrant. Our amazing, Marwa and Nabila Parwani, from Kabul, Afghanistan told their truth about the reality of being an immigrant.
We are so incredibly proud of our families. It is an honor to stand with them as they resettle here in the Claremont area. We will continue to find ways for us to speak out and educate the community on the truth of being a new arrival refugee family in America.
Thank you as always for your steadfast support! Together we are amazing!
YALLA!
