ABOUT THE CHEF:
VARTAN ABGARYAN
As a child growing up in Los Angeles, Vartan Abgaryan was deeply moved by the way his family’s Armenian-American culture celebrated all occasions, both happy and somber, with food. Inspired by the pure joy of cooking and how food brought many generations together, Abgaryan decidedly embarked on a career in the culinary realm.
Abgaryan’s latest culinary endeavor, Yours Truly in Venice, allows him to focus less on the number of guests and work within a more intimate dinner setting. A nod to his Armenian heritage, diners will find Middle Eastern elements in such dishes as Crispy Octopus with strawberry harissa, lebni, walnut dukkah, sprouts; Skate Wing with chermoula, couscous, pickled raisins, pine nuts, fennel, lemon; and Avocado Hummus with salsa matcha, peanut, lime, za’atar flatbread.
“I always cook from my heart...but this time it feels a little different,” says Chef/Partner Vartan Abgaryan. “I put my heart and soul into the menu and food.”
